The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office is a full service law enforcement agency.  The Sheriff employs approximately 170 full-time and part-time deputies to provide services in the areas of Corrections, Operations, Investigations, and Administrative Services.

Our Mission

The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office will preserve public peace and order: protect life and property; enforce the laws of the United States, Commonwealth of Virginia, and Rockingham County; provide security for courts; transport prisoners; rehabilitate inmates; promote partnerships with its citizens; and maintain among its employees a set of values that assures integrity, public service and quality of life for all residents in and visitors to Rockingham County and the City of Harrisonburg.
